Type : Media | | | Dubai-based media company is looking for a Managing Editor for a monthly publication, covering business and politics. The ideal candidates must have at least three years' experience working for a weekly or monthly magazine with an emphasis on business coverage. Background in serious investigative journalism a must.
Managing a small team, you have good organizational and management skills. With a great sense of discipline, you look for perfection in the things you do. You know how to work to a deadline and how to get your team and correspondents to stick to deadlines, and how to delegate, manage and motivate your team.
Working with various nationalities, you learn fast and adapt to new cultures and to the fast pace of a region that is in the midst of economic and political change. You are a problem-solver and can find quick solutions. You learn from your mistakes and put in the right procedures to overcome them.
You have excellent writing skills and know how to write strong articles, feature stories and profiles. You are able to quickly edit copy from correspondents writing in English as a second language. Your interviewing skills are superb, and you are at ease talking to business leaders. With a good visual sense, you give to the art director the freedom to be creative while controlling the outcome. You know how to gather information and follow leads for investigative stories.
Covering various industries, you will be expected to bridge the gap between the West and the Middle East in the magazine's coverage. Understanding the challenges facing various industry sectors and the region as a whole, you are able to put issues into their proper contexts.
You have a good background in Middle East politics and are interested in learning more. You will be in charge of managing new development projects associated with the brand.
